I don’t think there have been any changes to the set-list recently, apart from a few songs being left out due to a throat infection Morten has had:
- "It's been a strange experience standing on stage without singing voice, but absolutely fantastic to be met with such an overwhelming support from an entire audience during the concerts both in Brasilia and Recife. a-ha is definitely more than me and the band has delivered sparklingly in the absence of my voice, but then with sing-along instead, " Harket said to VG Nett. By the way, isn't a-ha and Mortens manager Harald Wiik and no longer Sverre Flatby?

Magne on the phone with Rio

On the phone from Argentina. Magne is talking about a-ha’s huge success in Brazil over the years, and the break-up. Here is a Google translation:
“I believe that our success in South America is due to the fact we do a very passionate music. We put our hearts in what we do, and the audience feels it. Music is a universal language.”
The loyalty of listeners remained over the years, even after the group stop playing.
“It is the recognition of a marriage that ends, and 25 years is a long marriage. Each of us needs to do something different and individual. When we play the A-ha, it's like reliving a past for which we love. Our latest CD, "Foot of the Mountain" (2009), is a recognition of past, as we were in the beginning. But all that is good will end one day, and it is good to leave a party before she got discouraged. We took advantage of the height of the party. We have the opportunity to celebrate the end of the band rather than continuing around until it collapsed or do boring music that will frustrate fans. Our last album was well received, so let's leave the scene in a good situation - says the keyboardist”.

Morten acting in new Norwegian film

Morten in Yohan, barnevandrerenMorten Harket is playing a small part in the film “Yohan, barnevandreren”, being the father of Alexander Rybak, whom you may recall as winner of the European song contest with ‘Firytales’. This is not the first time Morten is acting in a film. He did also play a part in the two films Camilla og tyven, actually with the same director as for Yohan, barnevandreren. A little while back, Morten was interviewed by the magazine Massive, and was asked a few questions about his part in this film:
- You are of current interest as the father to Alexander Rybak, the husband to Aylaer in the film “Yohan, Barnevandreren, may you still have acting ambitions?
- I do sill have no acting ambitions.
- But you did play a part in Camilla og Tyven as well? And got some offers from Hollywood too. Please tell.
- My part in Camilla og Tyven, as well as Barnevandreren, is not a result of acting ambitions. If I had, I would have said yes to acting with John Hurt and Helen Mirren.
- How was it like working with Rybak and Aylar?
- I have not actually worked with Aylar. I have just played with her, whilst Rybak was watching.
- How do you play with Aylar?
- If you need a handbook for playing, it will never be playing.
Premiere March 26.

Morten fronting scout campaign 2010

"Engage! Engagement is showing what kind of person you are", says Morten Harket.
Saturday April 17. 10.000 scouts all over Norway will collect money to offer youth in East-Timor educational facilities. Read more on the web site to Flyktninghjelpen. (Use Google Translate). Morten Harket is naturally engaged as having been interested in the situasion in East Timor for many years.

Here is an interview with Morten Harket done in January this year. The article is published in the The Scout Magazine.
- "It all started with a-ha being on tour, we were in Monte Carlo. One night a woman I have never seen before had managed to get through all security sluices surrounding us and got to my hotel room. It appeared she was a Canadian professor in human rights and came to tell me about East-Timor. I was shocked by what I heard. After that I dropped almost everything I had in my hands right then, because I felt I had to do something here", Morten Harket tells.
He knew his possibilities, the crow bar as a famous person, if providing attention towards a case, the politicians are often forced to answer. However, it took time, a lot of engagement and many ways around when it comes to East-Timor.
- "To engage is showing what kind of person you are and what kind of person you are not, it is like a compass. It makes you get to know yourself better. You get a lot when engaging. As child and youth you may not notice it at first, but seeds are planted which will give results when you grow up", he says.
- "The fact youth are standing behind the collection of resources so students out there can have an education, does probably mean incredibly much. In addition, those out there are probably a lot more aware of how lucky they are having such opportunities. Here we take it for granted and do not think about it. But if we do think about it – that we are collecting money so others can have a chance to go to school – this angle is very healthy for us", he thinks.

a-ha may have a chance in South-America

Flashback - VG 14.07.1986: AHA is looking towards new exciting exotic countries and continents. South-America, Soviet and China are hyper-relevant areas for launching the Norwegian group.
In September already, are Morten, Pål and Magne doing a move towards south of the American continent.
In September already, are Morten, Pål and Magne doing a move towards south of the American continent.
- "It’s the guys themselves who want this. They are fascinated by the South American continent, and Mexico is the first step on the road.
Without any kind of launching it shows a-ha has a very good record sale in the countries there, especially in Brazil. - Which certainly opens the possibilities they may have a chance of a respectable breakthrough", manager Terry Slater says.

Brazil flashbacks
March 6th 1989: a-ha is arriving Brazil for the first time. Radio, TV and newspapers are full of interviews and concert adverts; Norwegian flags are everywhere; a large number of fans are hanging out in front of the band's hotel; the concert sells out immediately and an extra concert has to be set up. (Source: the a-ha diary)
Here is a video flashback. The scenes are a part of a special production by Globo TV, who aired one of a-ha’s concerts at 'Praça da Apoteose' (Rio de Janeiro). The beach scenes are from the São Paulo's beach, showing the group eating feijoada. (Thanks to rodrigo on our forum for this information).
a-ha is back in Brazil tomorrow. We’re crossing fingers there won’t be any electrical fires backstage this time! Enjoy the concerts! I am sure a-ha will get warm receptions by all their loyal Brazilian fans. Can’t wait for reports!

Make sure you get hold of a Golden Circle ticket for a-ha’s Stadium concerts in Norway. The greatest view right in front of the stage, own entrance, toilets and refreshments facilities. Hysterical in Argentina
Hysterical reception. Almost like the wildest days back in the 80ies. Morten needed three security guards to get the two metres from the venue and into the car. Full of police to get the car got through. The audience welcomed a-ha with ‘olé, olé, a-ha’ and got totally mad between the songs. This is what Aftenposten reports in their extended report from a-ha's tour opening at Luna Park, Buenos Aires, Argentina.- "An amazing audience. Here we were carried forward by a wave of South-American madness. This was a true uplift, now the party is on. The ball is rolling, and we just have to stick to it", Magne Furuholmen says.
- "This became a very fun gig, yes. We played here 19 years ago, and experienced the same then. This is as good start of the tour as we could hope for, which makes me both satisfied and relieved. Because it is not a matter of cause it works like this", Morten Harket says.
- "We won’t get another chance to show this to people in Argentina now. This was our last chance, therefore it had to be full speed, and it worked", Magne Furuholmen said afterwards.
- "This is also a little about we being old foxes in the game, and having professional instincts. Even though we had a lot of technical problems during the rehearsals, we do not accept it won’t work the concert night. Simple as that."
- "The matter that things are live and anything can happen, makes us even the more focused, Morten Harket says".
According to Aftenposten a-ha delivered exactly as they should, for the last time in Argentina...

a-ha: - the party is on
Today's Aftenposten: Morten Harket and the rest of a-ha started their Farwell Tour the most hysterical way among wild South-American fans last night. Argentine fans have not forgotten a-ha. Last night they created conditions similar to what the band experienced during the 80ies, when this year’s Farwell Tour started in Buenos Aires. Right after they walked off stage, Magne furuholmen told us that “this was a roaring start, a true uplift, now the party is on”, before he picked up two bottles of water and disappeared into a car to the hotel. 10.000 wild fans from several South-American countries (…) sang like genuine football fans and made the legendary concert venue The Luna Part shake in the concrete.

The National Library of Norway, through the exhibition Hunting High and Low: 25 years with a-ha, aims to highlight different periods in the band's career from the time of their breakthrough until today. The National Library has one of the world's most extensive a-ha collections, comprising music videos, sound recordings and photographs along with various forms of printed material from all over the world. Using this collection as a starting point, the exhibition will mirror several - sometimes conflicting - aspects of a group that over the course of nearly three decades has navigated a diverse musical landscape. In connection with the opening of the exhibition on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, an international conference will be held, entitled Living a Boy's Adventure Tale: musical transgression in the decades of postmodernism.

Tour set list
a-ha’s last tour ever kicks off at Luna Park, Buenos Aires, Argentina, tomorrow, March 4. The guys haven’t been there since 1991. Now heading back to please their South-American fans. Their last visit resulted in a very much appreciated live release.
I am curious about their tour set-list. According to Argentine media a-ha will be performing songs from their latest album 'Foot of the Mountain'. I presume a-ha is still on the road promoting this release, at least in corners of the world which were not included on their specific 'Foot of the Mountain Tour'. With this in mind, and on such a long tour, I guess they may adjust the set-list a little as they go along. They have done this in the past. Changed the order, placed a song or two or three.
According to Virgin Media a-ha does have a silent contract with their fans, when it comes to their set-lists. Here is what Magne told the paper: “Talking in London, Magne Furuholmen says the band have a "silent contract" to continue to perform their 80s hits but keep them fresh for their own self preservation. He said: "Our job is to do those songs in ways that we find interesting still, that can be a challenge when you've played something a zillion times."

Wonder if they may do 'We're Looking for the Whales' this time? A catchy song they have not played for a long while.

Lørdagssirkuset with Rita Westvik. October 20. 1984. Watch here!
Latest from London is the pop group AHA (not to be confused with AHA! ! the rockband with the same name) with a million (NOK) contract in their pockets and the sweet taste of success in the wake. AHA consists of Morten Harket, Paul Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen. A couple of them were in the pop band “Bridges”, and full of optimism they went to London about a year ago to find happiness, as they say in the fairy-tale. Adventurous it was, but here in Norway we are the more sceptical to what is unknown and unheard. Therefore: Now has the opportunity come to experience the AHAboys’ Norway debut. Their music will be upbeat with good lyrics and beyond that heavey use of electronics. The Monroes may have got dangerous rivals. In any case Rita Westvik has a strong belief in AHA who she has hard performing four songs. At Lørdagssirkuset there will only e one, “Take on me”, which also is on a single AHA will release in neare future.

a-ha Supports New Artists
n connection with the upcoming farewell tour, a-ha wants to give support for new talent by granting four promising Norwegian artists/acts 1 million Norwegian Kroner each - giving away a total of €500.000 of the band's own money. The winners will be showcased in Norway during the four September dates.
Magne Furuholmen says on behalf of the band: "We have had a fantastic career with lots of people supporting us, and this is a way for us to give something back. We are excited to see who picks up the torch and feel privileged to be able to make this farewell such a celebration!"

Press Conference on VGTV
Watch the press conference that was held at Hotel Bristol in Oslo earlier today on VGTV. I have translated bits and pieces for you here:
In addition the winning bands will get the opportunity to warm up for a-ha on their coming stadium tour. There will be nominations, jurying and voting.
- “We have been thinking a lot about which band deserves a prize, but it is not necessarily that our private taste decides who will get this opportunity", Magne Furuholmen says to VG TV.
Furuholmen would like the money to give artists an opportunity to establish themselves abroad.
- “The economy isn’t there today, but we do hope this will help and maybe also inspire others to contribute”, Furuholmen says.
a-ha is giving their faithful supporters and economical helpers a lot of honour for their own success, but underlines the band member’s belief in themselves made the success possible.
- “We went away broke, but with a strong belief in own abilities, but we wouldn’t have had opportunity if it wasn’t for someone having faith in us", Morten Harket says.

Ending circles. Magne Furuholmen spent the weekend cross-country skiing at Norefjell, before he and the rest of the band are heading off to South-America this week.
- "Please excuse an ageing gentleman, but I do not remember too much from the performances we did on our first Norway tour. It easily mixes up. Still, it feels very natural ending the circle where we began, so we are looking very much forward to it. It is in a way a highlight in a long career. Then it also nice to bang the big drum a little", says Furuholmen on the phone from the sauna at the cottage.
- "I am on height training around 1000 metres above the sea before starting the tour. It can come in handy", he says cheerfully.
- "We have a busy and not least important year ahead of us, and we do have even more going on than known so far. Firstly, we do a sweep around the world to celebrate the ending with our fans. Then, we will end it all back home. This will be the greatest a-ha show ever", he says.
