Did you know... (some facts from the a-ha conference)

  • Did you know that a-ha was in every edition of the magazine Smash Hits the year 1986?
  • Did you know that the film “Altered States” was a huge inspiration for Steve Barron when making the “Take on Me” video? (The hand coming up from the comic book and Morten throwing himself onto the walls).
  • Did you know that a song named “I Lost my Umbrella” is just another early a-ha demo we have never heard?

"They were the decent ones"

This comment was directed to Larissa Bendel who talked about fame and fandom at the a-ha conference in Oslo today, in connection with the opening of the a-ha exhibition. a-ha fan Larissa Bendel represented the German fan club that existed from 1988 to 1998. The comment was made from the audience, by no one else but Magne Furuholmen’s mother conveying Magne’s thoughts…

You can read more about the conference and the speaches here: MIC. Here are some articles about the a-ha exhibition at the National Library in Oslo. Apparently, a-ha will be visiting the exhibition some time during the autumn.

The media about a-ha in 1986: "Their faces are their fortune and their image is crucial"

Magne Furuholmen (1986): "In ten years time, if we're still around, people won’t judge you for the videos or looks or anything, it will have to be the music you’re playing."
